Good starting stone

I've only had this a few weeks but so far it seems like a really good stone. I usually test for a month or more before writing a review but I can already say these stones are worth the money. I usually use Arkansas Stone and decided to try some wet stones for a change, they were pretty cheap so I was like what the heck. They are well packaged and shipped so I had no chips. The stones were originally flat so I sharpened a few chisels. After that I had to use a leveling stone, but it wasn't long…

Pros
  • Consistent results in testing
Cons
  • Empty

Complete crap, buy a real stone somewhere else. Not for serious sharpening.

Finally in use. What a crap. No better than using steel. I've also bought these 400/1000 and 3000/8000 but there is no correlation between the 'rating' of the grit. I have been using stones for 40 years and unfortunately I was completely wrong, after sharpening you can shave with my old stones, but these? useless as using a $3 sharpener from the grocery store. The instructions for BOTH say use 400 or 3000(!) for dull blades and above to get a clean blade. If 3000 is higher than 400 you will not

very satisfied, fixed my broken knives

Just started with this but so far so good. I really like the rubber holder. It really makes the sharpening process more convenient. All of my knives have been completely ruined by one of those cheap hand sharpeners that you have to pull the knife through. I've been using them for years and have never been satisfied although they were fast. These sharpeners completely ruined my knives. After getting this stone I spent about 30 minutes with each knife (5 knives) with a 400 grit resharpening the…

Did exactly what I was hoping for.

Hello. I got this stone not long ago but I'm so excited that I decided to buy it. I think it's important to say that I'm not new to knife sharpening. I have loved sharpening knives for 35 years. I started simply and went through many different systems and techniques. I bought a Spyderco Sharp Maker a few years ago and have used a ton. I bought wafer-thin stones for this and used them for their intended purpose. The results were good but I wanted a sharper one. Then I bought a Ken Onion Work…

Pros
  • βœ… Double-sided sharpening stone: This sharpening stone is made of high-strength silicon carbide with a grit of 400/1000 on both sides. 400 grit is used to bring the edges back to their original shape, 1000 grit is used to sharpen and smooth the edges. As the white leveling stone is used to level the uneven surface caused by repeated use, it becomes level. Since it is a water stone, no expensive polishing oil is needed.
Cons
  • So far so good

That's good, I'm not a beginner, expert or stone snob (yet)

I received a beautiful 1"x6" rock from my grandfather (don't know what it is but old school). I've learned from this and while I'm by no means an expert, I've been able to get hair loss results (with ceramics). It wasn't perfectly flat or completely flat, it still isn't, but it will be better when my tool arrives. The fact is that I'm not a cook, not an expert, but with a small stone and even a flat result it will not be. I'm not doing it for work, I just wanted more features and this Pebble is
