An excellent stone set for little money. I sharpen my ceramic kitchen knives on it and they are better than factory. I'm pretty much a hobbyist and I just sharpen for free, but my kitchen knives and pocket knives are shockingly sharp now.

I thought this stone resembled the diamond stone I bought from "Taylor" Tools. This stone is cheaply made and held together with a plastic core. The stone has no weight like a real diamond stone. I think if you don't have much to sharpen this stone will do. However, if you need to sharpen tools or knives on a daily basis, this tool will not last long.

The plate works, it sharpens knives. The problem I have is that the blade gets stuck in the broken surface of the stone where the grit shows because the groove is too big. Also, the base and plastic rim around the stone stick out too far to reach the rim unless you have a big grinder. Not bad overall, but I'll probably go with a small DMT brick in the future.

I have never tried to sharpen this knife but it comes in very handy for smooth and polished surfaces. The double-sided diamond surfaces conform to the base so it doesn't move during operation, and the two surfaces have very useful grits. I agree with him on several projects, when something like this is needed it's difficult to find a replacement.

I ordered 600/1200 grit. If you've never used a sharpener before, note that instructions are not included, so you'll either have to watch a video showing you how, or ask someone to do it. If you're looking for a really pretty presentation, you're out of luck, but who needs that? But for those of us who are looking for a decent sharpener that gets the job done (like me), this product is for you. I was able to sharpen some of my knives and other items that needed sharpening really well. Good deal

I am elderly and have had many different types of whetstones over the years, but I have never had a diamond stone. It's way better than the best I've ever had. . I've had it for a few months now and I've used it quite a bit. One of the reasons I like it so much is that its shape doesn't change. So long after it's no longer used to sharpen planes or chisels, it's still perfectly flat and sharpens like a razor. I've also never had a stone this size and I really like its size.

This stone did a great job removing metal but the 1200 grit side appeared much rougher than advertised and the knife blade was quite serrated when tested on paper. However, I have a 3000 diamond stone, which quickly smooths the edge and the knife passed the "paper test" without any problems. (Hold a piece of paper with one hand so that it is hanging down and gently press the knife on one edge of the paper at an angle. If the knife is sharp, it will cut the paper easily and cleanly.)
