Sizing leaves a lot to be desired

Bought twice before finding one size too tight on foot and then too loose. You really need something in between sizes. I ended up creating my own 3D printer.

Fits very tightly on the roller shaft but works!

This old bed frame uses those large, hard to reach inserts. They fit perfectly in the frame, but are difficult to put on the roller stem. VERY tight, but works great once. I found heating it in hot water and using silicone gel lube made things a little easier. I recommend them if you have the patience!

Got her running. - Furniture mug

I bought the reels from Shepherd Hardware and the nylon cover wasn't big enough so I bought some larger washers, they were the right size but the hole the reel was supposed to fit in was too small. I pierced them to make them work. What I paid for it wasn't worth sending it back. Sometimes things just aren't what they seem. But life goes on. Many Thanks

Order multiple sizes!

I have these bad boys for my desk that I made. Legs are 3/4 inch galvanized tubing. I wanted to install casters to protect the floor in the apartment. These are too small. The rim of these plugs fits, but nothing else fits. I will order multiple sizes. Because they slide into my pipe and swing vigorously. I wrapped duct tape but that didn't stop my rolls from tipping. Attached are pictures of the runway.

Live and learn on the hardware

The learning curve was a bit longer than I expected. Simply attach the casters to the inserts before inserting them into a cart or piece of furniture you are inserting them into. I almost damaged my bench doing it the other way around. I couldn't find the right leverage to get the reels to snap into the insert. BUT once I put the reels on the stakes, which took hours, it took a few minutes and everything went so smoothly. My bank rolled in less than 10 minutes.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Minor issues

Plastic eyelets for bed casters

I originally ordered 3/4" plastic eyelets for bed casters. They were too big so I had to change the bushings to 5/8". That was my problem. When the 5/8 inch heads arrived I couldn't get them all the way into the reel. I managed to only lift them 3/4 of the way up. Since the bushings are made of plastic, I took a drill and enlarged the hole a bit. This time I was able to introduce them completely. The problem is solved. So keep in mind that even if you order the right size, you may need a little

Designed for tube bore size

When looking for replacement roller heads, I've found that head specifications are presented in different ways - sometimes as OD and tube dimensions, and sometimes as ID tubes. Shepherd specifications are for the ID of the hose (7/8 #9071 fits snugly into a 7/8 inch ID hose). My tubing was 1" OD and 16ga (0.54") so the tubing ID was about 0.982" leaving 7/8 product loose in the tubing. I also tried the 1" and it was too big for my pipe without trimming each fin. I ended up using 1" Oagen…

Disappointing - Hardware

I've read all the reviews on them and found that they don't fit properly in 3/4 inch PVC. I had to try them anyway, mostly due to lack of other options. The reviews are correct. They don't fit snugly into 3/4" PVC pipes. In fact they are a very loose fit. I don't understand the engineering behind them. They are tapered and obviously designed to fit round pipes. Pipes made from PVC are measured by the inside diameter, so why would they be loose enough not to stay put when put in. I don't get the
