Brakes better but squeaks

Yes, this is one of those reviews. The brakes seem good but they caused a lot of squeaking on my 700c bike. I'm not sure what it is. I even sanded the pad lightly and cleaned the rim very well. It's on an old Bianchi bike but I think the rim was replaced as it doesn't match the front so it's probably a cheap rim or something. You have to experiment. I put on some Kool Stop pads and I don't have the squeak anymore so I guess it's all trial and error.

Upgrade Your Bike's Brakes

I repaired and upgraded my '91 Trek but first I needed to replace the brake pads. I was driving at a decent speed and miscalculated the braking distance and nearly crashed into a car. After that I checked the brakes and they were hard as rocks. I installed these brake pads in less than 10 minutes, front and rear. The new pads are softer and the bike stops noticeably better with no noise. Please note you will need a 10mm wrench to install them.

Terrible brakes didn't become terrible brakes.

That made terrible brakes not terrible brakes. Center pull brakes can't compete with V-brakes, but I think the modulation is probably better. I set rear lock and max braking WITHOUT front lock on dry pavement. Your results may vary and you must consider the surface you are riding on. If you find yourself in mud or water, you can release the front brake a bit. Locking up the front wheel is no fun, especially when cornering.

Caution - almost useless.

I'm restoring a nearly new early 90's mountain bike with cantilever brakes, but these brake pads are so hard and slick that I'm wondering if they actually predate the bike . The performance is significantly WORSE than the well worn shoes they have been replacing for almost 30 years. I was hoping that when worn they would show better rubber. nope They've only gotten worse and stopping power is almost non-existent. Huge waste of time and energy; Consoles are PITAs that can be customized in better

They work better as they are actually softer than the original parts

Really fits my old 91 Trek perfectly. They work better as they are actually softer than the original now hard pads. Yes, I know, Mr Security. I'll miss the loud squeak of old hard brake pads as I clear the path for a walk with 20-foot lines. The new pads work well for the brakes but not for the 80 decibel squeak. Yes my horns fit although my helmet is fine. UPDATE March 2019: They work fine. It took some adjustments to keep them right. touch customization. The dangerous adjustment of the front…

Perfect replacement for 20 year old pads.

As part of my constant drive for self improvement, I took my bike out of storage for the first time in 15 years. I made some basic adjustments, unhooked the sticky switches and rode it without really examining the brake pads and noticing that they were still in place. brakes. Well, at some point it did happen, but emergency stops were out of the question. I noticed that I was missing something very important and immediately ordered this replacement. When I removed the old pads they were so hard
