Shimano Derailleur Part Pulley 105/LX/Deore 5700 (Set of Upper and Lower Pulleys) Review

These derailleurs fit my very old Shimano 105 derailleur perfectly. Items arrived in just a few days in original Shimano packaging.

I changed the rear cassette and noticed a lot of wear on the pulleys. A visit to Utube showed me how to change them and then I thought my 11 speed might as well be done. Good work!

Compared to pulley 6700. Although 5700 is not ceramic, the bushing on the G pulley looks like a good quality material. In addition, there are no friction problems caused by the seals. Overall I would have preferred the 5700 despite being in the 105 over the 6700 as the Ultegra.

My derailleur worked fine, but occasionally it also shifted at the same speed after a while. Those pulleys seemed a little wobbly so I figured it might be worth replacing. Doesn't matter. Much smoother shifting and more stable at any speed.

Misleading ad, the picture advertised a sealed pulley with a sealed ceramic bushing but when I opened mine I saw two metal pulleys with bushings. That's disrespectful to customers. My bike has a Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur with sealed bearings and a ceramic bushing. I want the same as in the picture.

This product, well, that's it. This is Shimano's basic replacement for the Level 105. They are plain on hubs without bearings. There are significantly better replacement parts out there, 11 speed works great for 10 speed applications and is a dime a dozen on Amazon, AL with bearings. This product is very overpriced for what it is.

I ordered these pulleys to replace worn ones on my old Ultegra RD-6500 switch. Although the picture shows sealed bearing pulleys (regular and ceramic) like my existing pulleys, the ones I received are metal plain bearings. This was pointed out in last year's review and the seller keeps showing a misleading and incorrect photo. Shame on the seller, shame on Revain for allowing this and shame on me for not reading last year's review which pointed to a misleading photo.
