I've been using SPD for decades and have never had this problem. 2 of the 4 adjustment screws came off insanely easily when I was trying to set it up for the first time. Extremely disappointed and there is no adequate documentation to resolve this issue.

This is a Shimano product, so it is functional and durable. What more do you want. Like all my other Shimano products it is well constructed and reliable. The clamping mechanism prevents them from functioning as a dedicated platform pedal, but that's not their intended purpose. Thank you Shimano

I love these pedals. They are very easy to set up, but you can very reliably solve this pedal out of the box. The platform provides a secure footing when you don't have time to attach. Sometimes you find yourself in difficult positions on technical trails. I wouldn't want another pedal on Gnar for those awkward moments when you have to press the pedal. Also works best on my fat bike on snow/ice, it drains very well.

Prefer mountain bike clipless pedals but have trouble landing, jumping and falling with xtr pedals. My shoes sometimes fell off when I hit the ground with a good thump. I think the lack of a flat pedal/base caused the heel to drop too much and the clamp to release. Combine them with Shimano flats/skateboard shoes that match these pedals. It hasn't been since then and I like the feel of a less stiff shoe on a flat platform. It's also easier to snap into, and even if you still miss, the pedals…
