DON'T BUY CHEAP! for parts

I thought I had a few bucks saved up and got an old mercury version of the kit and oh my god it was a nightmare. The cable was tied tightly inside my jacket and I threw it in the trash. It took less than 10 minutes to get into the bell body and finish. Always choose OEM or SEI.

Pros
  • Includes shift cable (18-2190), driven gear seal (18-2619-1), forward mounting gasket (18-2743) and shift cable boot (18-2753-1)

Great kit. Everything you need to start a new .

Great set. Everything you need to install a new shifter cable is included in the kit, except for the tools you need to adjust the housing bell to accommodate the new cable type. The new cable is screwed in from the front. If you have the old style you will need to thread the threads all the way from the back with a 1/4 18 tap. Then flip and clean the threads from the front. Stop 4 strands before the end. Revvan is the best.

Pros
  • Sierra Lower Shift Cable
Cons

Excellent quality cable length perfect water o ring is a bit big.

Great kit - I have a 1985 Larson DC175 with a 3.0 Merc engine and an Alpha 1 Generation 1 gearbox. The cable length was the same as the original shot, everything else had an exact fit. For one, the water intake O-ring was slightly larger than the OE. I had a set of o-rings lying around and I used a better fitting one. It's nice to have both pads as my outdrive is an Alpha 1 Gen 1 which uses a six hole pad. I believe the other gasket in the kit fits the Alpha 1 Gen 2 design, but I believe it can

Pros
  • Will fit specific parts, check part numbers to ensure correct fit
Cons
  • Good but not great
