🔧 Enhance Engine Performance with Sierra 18-7746 Carburetor Kit Review

If you have a 2006 Mercruiser TKS or any other 3.0 TKS engine this kit will not fit. My mistake, Sierra has quality products.

The kit worked with a Mercruiser 140hp Rochester carburetor. With ethanol fuel I need to overhaul the carburetor about every 3-4 years to keep the engine running properly.

Didn't have everything I needed to rebuild but it had 98% of what I needed for my Rochester 2-barrel carburetor for my boat. It lacked the necessary information to set and lower the upper level of the float.

Gaskets didn't fit my carb apparently unbeknownst to me the boat industry has used a smaller Rochester 2 barrel as well as a larger 2 barrel Mine is a larger carb and there are so many options for 2 barrel rochester carburetors that buying a kit without knowing the correct part number is a crap anyway. However, the needle float valve, its seat and a few other components were swapped with mine and I was able to use my old gaskets or make new gaskets out of release paper to rebuild my carburetor…

Kit, some YouTube searches and some common sense saved my boating season. My old 1971 boat ran terribly. After replacing the spark plugs, wires, contacts and capacitor, the engine still crushed, was missing, had a "flat spot" and did not develop full power. I went to an auto parts store and bought a liter bucket of carb cleaner (dip, not carb cleaner), carefully disassembled the carburetor, cleaned it, bled the passages, reassembled it with new parts from the kit and the engine ran great.
