Enhanced Sirius XM Onyx Plus Radio - Standalone Version (Radio only, no accessories) Review

I hate buying refurbished products but this time I took a chance - I will never do it again, the product keeps turning on and off by itself, I will be returning it.

Didn't get a chance to listen to it right away but the radio randomly resets and turns off several times. I have to unplug and plug it back in for it to work. I've tried with two different docks so I know it's not the dock it's connected to.

I bought this radio to replace an old radio/boombox I had. This radio came without the accessories I needed. I had to transfer my subscription from my old radio to this one because it was for lifetime. The subscription transfer cost more than New Radio. Find out.

This radio did not work right out of the box. The lights on it just flickered on and off, but nothing else happened. Supplied in a plastic bag. It had a tag saying it was new but the plastic protective film covering the screen was missing telling me it's not new. Do not buy! Buy the whole set together with the base and you will have a new product that works.

One of the best radio stations at the moment. Pause and replay your presets up to an hour earlier. The display is bright and clear for daytime use. And a soft glow in the night. Holds firmly to the base. If you already have your own cables, there is no need to purchase a car kit. The power plugs and antennas are the same as other car kits. It attaches to the universal slot on the back.

Updated: up to 2. This unit has MUCH poorer reception than my old Starmate. That wouldn't be too bad, except as I said it continued to log dead air, unlike Starmate which sometimes lost reception (as expected) but didn't log dead air. This is a replacement for my old Starmate. Starmate had a much better reception. This one appears to be cut off. Even if it is turned off, it will continue to record and add that dead air to the recording, while Starmate will stop recording when it is not…

I particularly like the TuneMix function. Once you've programmed your presets (very easily) for your favorite channels, you can press the TuneMix button and after each song plays, it will switch to a different one of your favorite channels - And - every time a channel changes, it starts over from the beginning of the songs . . Replaced the old home radio with the existing dash mount. The full color display with album art is a real treat. I had to get used to it and not let myself be distracted from driving. In my original mount at the top of the dash, the radio is high and bright during the day, which is distracting at night. Finding the right balance setting solved that problem as best it could.
