Over the years we have had many motorhomes with the same old twist lock power plug. The screw ring has always been a pain. With Smartplug, the connection is easy to make, reliable and weatherproof. It's not cheap, but I highly recommend it!

This updated design is a far cry from the old twist lock that has plagued boaters for years. My broken 40 year old Twisty was ready to go anyway. I found the cable connections were in bad shape. You won't know how much better a smart socket is until you try it. Installation is fairly easy; The hardest part was threading the large 30 amp cable through the new rubber strain relief. This item is used for detachable power cords for vans but with a very efficient and safe connection. Installing an outlet on an existing wiring box by adding a box extension and outlet cover. Used a similar product as a replacement on a boat after an old screw cap nearly caught fire. Yes it is expensive but I consider it a real insurance! With a detachable power cord, you can remove the cord in seconds and store it elsewhere instead of pulling it in and out of the compartment.

I installed it before a recent trip to Georgia. One of his claims is that he keeps himself safe. It does. This is a great replacement for the outdated so called 30A twist lock plug and socket. The fit is secure and secure. Snaps securely into place without worrying or figuring out how to orient the plug in the outlet. Snaps into place with a satisfying click! rather than some vague sort of blocked. Installation can be a bit more problematic than the instructions and videos suggest. I had to drill two new holes as my old (1992) Hubbel connector has a slightly different bolt spacing.
