Reduced Quantity: Wood Screws

Bought 3 boxes that said they had 100 screws but all 3 boxes were only 95.5% less than what I paid for. Competitors always use 5-10% more screws than the label says, but not here. That means I was cut by more than 10%. Each pair of square sockets contained a strobe and so was not used, but this is a common mistake and may be why competitors always fit extras. Screw head sizes do not match depending on length; longer screws mean a larger head; not by default. The workmanship seemed consistent…

They are alright. Best left for softer woods.

Out of 100 boxes I had about 6 breaks in my project requiring holes to be filled. Then I had to try again at another location nearby. I had about a dozen heads that deformed and the bit popped out tearing out the material in the process. The screws were not the same color at all. This indicated poor curing or the material used to make the screws. If you decide to take one out right after inserting it, it will pop out like a corkscrew as it deforms from the heat. I used over 100 of these screws of various lengths to repair a 30 year old cedar fence that was the consistency of a cheese log. its wide spiral design is sufficient to connect two parts without tension or back pressure. They are also resistant to overdrive stripping like traditional deck screws. None of the heads were ripped off or chipped, including a 3 inch size that was hammered into a pressure treated frame.
