Great little player!

It took me a long time to decide between a CD and an MP3 player. I walk a lot and also go to the gym. My favorite things to do are either listening to the radio or playing disco-style music (yes, disco) to keep my juices flowing. I chose a CD player as I really don't want to download songs when I have a dozen CDs. that will do what i want. I absolutely love this player. The sound is clear, the radio stations are strongly audible. Even on the treadmill, the player didn't miss a beat. I wasn't…

Improving a great personal CD player

I've had a Sony DNF420 for almost a year with almost identical specs. I was very happy with it. I ended up gifting it to a relative (it's amazing how few people under 25 own their own CD player these days) and bought this model. I was surprised that Sony improved an already great product. The buttons are more comfortable and intuitive, the sound is better and the battery life (already amazing - more than 20 hours with a single AA) has increased. In addition, the radio has been improved…

Good clear digital sound; chunky interface

I'm always looking for a good portable CD player as I only listen to classical music. Classical music challenges the best out of a Hi-Fi system and MP3 players just don't work for me. I bought the D-NF430 because it also has FM/AM/TV/WB, which will come in handy when the next natural or man-made disaster strikes. (Shortwave?) Like most Sony hi-fi systems, the D-NF430 produces very clear and pleasing sound over a pair of good headphones. The digital processor inside the unit does an excellent…

Nice little player, very handy for strollers

I am very impressed with the sound quality of this cute little player. The tuner captures perfectly, especially considering the area I live in. On some stations it has better reception than my car radio. I'm a bit skeptical about a single AA battery and how long it will last. Like some of the other reviewers, I had issues with small earbuds. They are easily shifted when walking, especially when holding the remote control in one hand. The latter is because the earbuds plug into the back of the…

Great player for portable CD players

Bought one of these many months ago. Then I got another one for my daughter. Unfortunately mine was stolen. Bought it at one of the Revain stores for less than $50, brand new. It looks exactly like this. The model number is the same. So why the ridiculous, inexplicable, just wrong price spike? However, I love this thing. This is my second Sony ATRAC. I got the first one years ago and it finally fell apart after years of playing, hours every day. I've used it so much that the silver finish has…

GREAT SOUND, 1 AA BATTERY, REMOTE CONTROL, LOVE IT!

Bought from Revain and very very satisfied! Why? (First, I owned and use a 420 Atrac). I bought this model for ONE AA Battery, Remote Control, TV, AM FM, Weather and Resume. Here are some good reasons why I love it: 1) Uses only ONE AA battery! And it'll last a long time (I've had it on MP3 for over 40 hours! (Recommendation: use rechargeable batteries if you're at home but on the go, then keep an extra AA battery handy.) 2) Reception, TV, AM, FM, weather, CD, MP3 - all great. This is the only…

Four different editions, one great CD player.

I had the DNF420 version before purchasing the DNF430 and was very happy with its performance. But there were four different problems with the SONY ATRAC CD player: 1) Player 2) Sonicstage software 3) Headphones 4) Atrac recording. The CD player was excellent - it would display songs and let you skip from song to song or album to album. In addition, FM tuning enabled reception at gyms that broadcast television programs on FM stations such as CNN and ESPN. From time to time I would see CNN news…

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

I like it but it has some problems

Well I bought this product so I can play my MP3s on it on the go, not just on my stereo and as space is limited on the number of CDs that you can hold. I use it as an add-on to my HD MP3 player and stereo, but I find I use it even more than they do. While my stereo and HD MP3 players play MP3s just fine, there are occasional issues. When I used my MP3 discs that I created with Windows Media Player, everything was fine at first. Then I noticed that the CD player stopped for a few seconds between
