Spal 30101516 Straight Blade Profile Review

Works great, sounds a bit like a swarm of bees but cooling my jeep is more important and with only 3.5 inches of ground clearance it's perfect.

I had to replace another Spal fan that was on one of my cars. The other fan had to occupy the same space as the water pump pulley so it obviously didn't have it It works, it cleans well and does a great job of cooling the engine.

Spal makes great fans. Surprisingly, I managed to fit this between the m103's radiator and engine. Although it doesn't move as much air as a viscous fan at at least 1500-2000 rpm, it works well enough to keep my MB tractor's engine cold when I can't maintain high RPMs.

I installed this on a '66 Ford Mustang with a 289 drain and aluminum radiator. All the Mustang stores told me that I chose too thick a radiator for the electric fan and I would just stick with a flex fan. I tried Spal and had enough space to install. Great fan to keep the car cool when needed. The only downside is that it is VERY noisy. I would suggest a curved fan, which many people say works just as well and is a little quieter. I am choosing a curved fan for my next project.

The fan works well and cools the motor well during operation. Much faster at idle than the stock fan clutch. It's a bit noisy outside, but almost inaudible in the car. Also, it generates very little vibration when installed with a front gasket. My fan came with mounting straps which are sold for cheap on this site. Nowhere in the description does it say there are straps. That was my only problem with it so far. Overall this is a good buy if you need something understated.
