. the light is off and the booth no longer smells of gasoline

Check Engine light is off and the booth no longer smells of gasoline so overall the product is good. The fit wasn't perfect so getting it in place was a real challenge. I also sometimes have trouble filling the tank to the end. The fuel injector shuts itself off automatically when I know I need to add another 2 gallons. Annoying, but not the end of the world. Overall a good product and I am happy with it.

  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Close but not perfect

This was the only filler I could find for a 2003 Forester. Of course removing the old one on a 17 year old car was a project. Most of the parts on the pipe were intact, but the ring around the top of the pipe, near the end of the gas cap, was welded 90 degrees out of place. With a little improvisation everything was made to fit. Overall, the product is well made and worth the price. Replacing an old one is not for the faint of heart.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Safety

Fits 2004 Subaru Forester

This fits 2004 Forester, I replaced the rusty one. I cut off the two small pipes and discarded them as the ones on the car were stainless steel, in good condition and looked like they would be difficult to replace. Everything went smoothly. The spring mechanism was rigid and difficult to insert into the nozzle at first, but quickly became soft. No spare cap was supplied, I found the (metric) nuts in place. Happy with price and product.

Good overall quality

If you need a decent replacement fuel filler cap this will probably help. The fit and finish is okay overall, not terrible but definitely not as good as the factory filler necks. Benefits: Includes fasteners for top mounting area, shut-off valve. rust (only time will tell). Cons: Two of the included evaporator tubes were welded rather than bolted on like the factory ones, so I had to cut those two lines to reuse the factory ones. Minor paint imperfections in the finish.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • New Competitors

Doesn't fit directly but works

This worked on my 2003 Subaru Forester X but didn't fit directly so I'm giving it 3 stars. The two small lines that converge from the neck and are shorter were about 3 inches longer than the grove they were meant to fit. I took my time and made slow turns to avoid messing up the lines and it worked. If you just cut two lines from the filler where they are welded it will help a lot. Just be very careful not to make a hole in your line. This didn't solve my problem either, but will likely becomeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Only available in white

Poor fit and design make mornings tiring.

Advertised to fit 2007 Forester. With welded (welded) evaporator tubes, it was not possible to install this part. I had to cut these tubes down and replace the stainless steel OEM which I had already removed. Then the attachment points on the filler pipe themselves did not match at all. I also couldn't connect the old evaporator lines to the new tube even though it wasn't designed to do that. If the fill tube was the same as the bracket then the vaporizer lines would also match. All in all, itโ€ฆ
