Description of ๐Ÿ”ง Astro 13-Inch Heavy Duty Riveter - Model 1423

Patented structure increases power and leverage when setting POP blind rivets (not for threaded rivet nuts). Shorter handle with double compound hinges that maximize leverage. Shortest long arm riveter which can operate up to 1/4-Inch (6.4mm) stainless steel rivets. One of our most versatile and powerful hand riveters, taking the hard work out of setting large diameter blind rivets. includes 5 Nosepieces: 1/8-Inch (3.2mm), 5/32-Inch (4.0mm), 3/16-Inch (4.8mm) and two pieces of 1/4-Inch (6.4mm).

Great splitter! Use washers as spacers for hard-to-reach places!

I've had regular riveters but this one is great! Especially if you plan on using it for steel riveting and for more than one job. My conclusions: - The action of the hedge trimmer is much easier than the action of the pliers! - Less hand fatigue and can put forward pressure when riveting - Easy handling of steel rivets - Shanks get stuck in the removable chamber causing less mess - after 1000 rivets it still holds up well! (This does not apply to my previous $12 standard riveter, which onlyโ€ฆ

Doesn't work very long.

I have a project that will require about 1000 stainless steel rivets in a few years (replacing 5/4 cedar boards on an aluminum framed dock). You will need about a dozen. It worked great for the first 25 rivets, slowed down for the next 25, and was completely useless by 75. I'm not sure how they work exactly, but it seems like it's slipping the rivet's steel shank. aluminum sleeve in such a way that it always catches the shaft in the same place. If I pulled on it before releasing the handle, the

You won't find a better riveter, even twice the price.

Does the job well and is very solidly built. Has a very impressive mechanical advantage for such short handles. I only had to squeeze the handles 1.5 times to install a 1/4" rivet to attach something to my Jeep's tailgate. from HF was not nearly as smooth and easy to use. It has almost the same handle length but only 1/8" rivets, but this one is much easier to use. What a huge improvement in quality/performance. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it's inconvenient to use with aโ€ฆ

It was a great tool. MUCH better than the typical "gamer ".

We use this article all the time. It was a great tool. Much better than the typical "pliers" type riveting tool. We use it for long aluminum rivets in our shop: porta potty service. For those who don't know, these modern plastic outhouses are held together entirely with aluminum rivets. We don't assemble them with it (that is, it's better with pneumatic tools due to the number of rivets), but we do all kinds of repairs broken in the workshop and in the field. This tool was a relief from a pairโ€ฆ

He can draw! To adjust, unscrew the nose.

A few weeks ago I was fixing panels on an old rotary mower. I used 3/16 stainless steel rivets and a 35 year old Marson hand tool. Turns out I'm 35 years older too. Also, Marson was not really designed for stainless steel rivets of this size. I could pull, but only with a woodworking clamp to gain more leverage. I'm lucky I didn't break the riveter's jaws. Got 1423 in the mail today and tried the same rivet. Piece of the cake! I'm far from the production shop and rarely use a riveter so can'tโ€ฆ

Few major design flaws but reliable mechanical performance

Firstly, I was NOT given the specified attachments. I have 3/32" which is not in the description, also 1/8" (3.2mm), 5/32" (4.0mm), 3/16" (4.8mm) and 1/ 4 inches. (6.4 mm) in the list. 6mm is not listed. Personally I don't mind having 6mm metric AND 6.4mm imperial seems overkill but I think some buyers will object and many buyers are looking for 3/32. "can't know what it is on this tool. The two major flaws I see are: 1) Inconsistent turret markings: some have both imperial and metric sizesโ€ฆ

Works great after modifications.

so I bought this 'good' rivet gun to replace my old crappy broken normal one. you can ride All the pieces slide in very easily which never happens and I'm finally ready to rivet my new powder coated door panels. I clamp the plates in place, drill two dozen 1/8" holes, and pull out my shiny new Astro 1423! I open the jaws, insert the stainless steel rivet into the jaw, and pull the handles down about halfway until I feel them grip the rivet. I push the rivet firmly into the hole and keepโ€ฆ
