Not at all suitable for the intended application and easy to detach due to the flat design. It's difficult to reach with fingers well enough to tighten properly and using a tool is sure to scratch it.

Got this to give me some extra clearance under the hood of my large Chevelle. The current clearance is very, very small, and the air cleaner wing nut was the highest part under the hood. This gadget increased the gap by about 1/4 inch and it looks pretty good.

I had 2.7" of clearance under the hood and it is not recessed into the 2.4" air intake. It took me a while to assemble an air intake for my Monster 502 BB in a 1965 Corvette, but it worked out in the end. Flexibility helps with small adjustments so everything gets past the hood and other obstructions in the engine bay. I am satisfied with the quality of the Specter Performance components that have gotten me the job done.

I bought a Specter 14' x 3" Max Flow filter, a set of Specter multi-length cleats and this low profile air cleaner nut to be safe. would be compatible. The nut fits into a notch on the top of the air filter BUT the threaded hole on the bottom is NOT 1/4" x 20 TPI. It's too small. It's an odd size that I couldn't find after going through everything was testing. The hardware is from 40 years of automotive work. The chrome on it is very poor quality.
