The pointed probe is very large and not very sharp. It leaves a big hole in the side of the wire when you try to feel the insulation. Also, the laced wire is VERY stiff, as is the alligator clip cover, making it difficult to use in tight or confined spaces. Works. I like the end of the probe which is quite sharp which makes it easier to get into small spots compared to my other tester which has a flat head probe. First there was a problem that it wasn't working. It turned out that the bulb was installed crookedly and had no contact with the battery. My first review: It's a good tester but it didn't work right out of the blister pack. I found that the battery negative terminal soldered to the end of the wire was corroded and preventing contact. After I sanded it down with fine sandpaper, the tester worked perfectly. I used it today and it doesn't work at all; no flicker. I really liked this Sperry Heavy Duty Continuity Tester when I received it. simple, easy to use, feels good in the hand but doesn't work the second time. I found that the lightbulb was burned out (I checked the ground wire on my trailer by the way).
