Links detach and fall off my dog

Collar falls off immediately. Understands. Links diverge. I'm literally walking my dog and she takes off because the collar is falling apart. Links are not safe. They will flex at the slightest pressure and flex and fall off. So expensive and the quality is terrible.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Minor issues

Great product!: Dogs

The first time I tried removing the collar I found it a bit difficult but after a little practice it was easy. I bought this collar because it really helps your dog walk properly and not pant while wearing a regular flat collar. Through proper introduction to the collar and lots of treats, my dog learned that the collar means we're about to go outside and she enjoys wearing it! It is only a bad tool if it is not used properly and humanely.

Pros
  • Sleek design

Do not buy. in Dogs

DO NOT buy this fake collar. I bought it before I knew what I was looking for. If I could I would send it back immediately. I have several HS collars and this is 100% below their standards. He is very easy to understand. Also, none of the rings have a swivel! What if you get a dog that starts turning? HS does not make collars that are potentially unsafe for dogs. Do yourself a favor and get the matching prong collar. I am posting a photo where you can clearly see that the collar has a swivel on

High-quality spiked collar

No problem that it is a fake. That's the real deal. I have used it with my 50lb 1 year old Greyhound who has trouble pouncing on other dogs. With the collar and the right training, he feels a lot better. While I haven't had any issues with the pins bending or the collar coming loose, I can see how this can happen if the collar is not attached properly or pulls too hard. Common sense, however. Duh, you must have a security/backup port. Look at that. If you haven't studied the use of spiked…

My dog figured it out pretty quickly

I have a rescue. He is cheeky and requires a lot of patience to train him. Especially when I was trying to teach him to stop pulling so hard when walking. The treats didn't work, the clicker didn't work, and telling him to stop pulling didn't work. I was very hesitant to buy this collar thinking it would cause my dog a lot of pain. But after some research I found out that it's not as strong as I thought it would be. Anyway, he was shocked on day one when he started pulling while walking and…

Looks way worse than it feels

I pull this thing on my arms, legs etc and pull hard to see what it is. It looks a lot worse than it really is and it has really helped me be more in control of my dog when we are away from home. It's not easy to put on and take off, but that doesn't detract from the effectiveness of this collar. She literally strangled herself with another training collar and I had to carry her knocked out body home. Straps rub them red and damp, straight/flat collars also suffocate them. Run with it for the…

Great collar! Worth every penny!

I bought this for my 80 lb labrador dog in training. I used to use a large costal barb but it was too big for him (originally bought for another dog) and kept slipping out of position. I've also gotten nasty, judgmental looks from people who don't have my disability, who don't know my dog's history, and quite frankly, it's none of their business. The collar on him is practically invisible and I haven't received a single rude comment since because 95% of people don't even know he's wearing one…

Authentic Herm Sprenger - used correctly and safely it is a great tool

The collar I received was an official Herm Sprenger. Also, the collar I ordered has 2 O-rings, no swivel (which I prefer, my leash has a swivel). Sprenger makes a collar without a swivel (one of the previous reviewers seemed to think it was fake as there is no swivel, which is not true). This spiked collar made a difference in my day and night pittie mix rescue. It weighs about 40 pounds and I had to remove a link from the small size 2.25 collar. I prefer black stainless steel (anodized rather…

  • Comfortable to use

Connections are easily broken

Good things first: The collar worked wonders on my rescued German Shepherd. He has a strong urge to hunt and wanted to be ahead by pulling on the leash. He will constantly monitor squirrels, rabbits and other dogs. At first I tried both martingale and choke chain collars, but he wasn't confused about the attachment. When I tried on the notched collar, it was like night and day. All it needed was a bland fix, and I had a chance to praise it. In just a few minutes, he recovered like a champ. Our…
