Herm Springer Collar

It was lighter than other brands I tried. It will be easier to put on and take off after a few times. I'm still working on that with my dog. I've just had back surgery so I'm taking a break from training for a few weeks to recover. As long as I like it My dog is half lab and rotting. And yes, he's a pickup truck. So stay tuned.

Pros
  • nice item
Cons
  • functionality

Great trainer for young dogs!

I'll add a little later Look how weak the line is! Our Aussie isn't much of a cheater, but enough to be annoying. I got angry, then he got angry (he didn't know why I was angry). This collar gently sets boundaries. Thanks to this collar I enjoy our walks again. The only drawback is the difficult getting in and out. I watched a youtube video that helped, but putting it on and taking it off is difficult, especially on a lion's mane dog!

Pros
  • The best in its niche

Quality product and effective

We have just gotten a very large and very powerful dog who has a tendency to attack other dogs and people and have reluctantly decided to switch to a collar. I have experience with horse bits from the Herm Sprenger brand. The collar is durable, effective, and there are no seams and sharp edges along the edges. Now I can walk our beautiful and strong dog with confidence that he will not pull me towards anyone or attack me. I feel much more confident around him and he already listens and responds

First large dog walk experience

I have a 6 year old Boxer Sheepdog who must have been a gun dog before we adopted him from a shelter because he chased every animal she saw - squirrels, rabbits, geese, cats, chipmunks, you name it, she chased and dragged us along. I've tried choker collars, halter collars, and shock collars. A neighbor recommended a spiked collar and after watching some youtube videos I bought one. Where's the difference! The first use allowed me to walk the dog instead of me. If she starts to pull too hard…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as fat as other alternatives

Famous brand and product but difficult to use for long haired dogs

If you are looking for this type of spiked collar then Herm Sprenger is the best brand for it. The teeth feel like high quality metal, smooth and polished. Size is very important. You want spiked collars to sit very high on the neck behind their skull, and you want the collar to be snug (NOT loose) so it doesn't slip off. You should not be able to put the collar on the dog's head. But there is no "easy" way to open and close the collar. To open it, you have to squeeze a pin fairly hard to…

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
