I used to have a similar slicer and it was much better. It has the cutting wire dangling from it and I tried tightening it but the screws won't turn. They have low quality Philips heads and the threading is most likely bad. Also, the old one had extra wire for cutting, but this one didn't.

When we last moved, my cheese cutter went missing. Probably somewhere in crates I haven't opened yet, but who knows when I'll get them? This cheese slicer is actually made of stainless steel! Very heavy, durable, easy to clean. I would look for that!

It's broken here. The wire came loose earlier, about 4 months ago. This time the wire broke. I'm retired, the only person using a gadget, it's not built to last. Very disappointed. I've used one of these my whole life. The one that was in my childhood finally gave up after 60 years. They don't do things the way they used to!

Excellent cheese slicer for 6 months but the wire has come loose and due to its design there is no way to reattach or replace the wire. If you can't find your specific wire with hard ends. Other than that, this is a great slicer. UPDATE: The seller contacted me in advance and refunded the money, so I've increased my rating from 2 to 4 shares. Good on you.

This is an old fashioned cheese slicer, almost the same as my mum's and maybe my grandma's in the kitchen. Like these cheese slicers, it looks and feels like it's going to last. I'm seventy so I don't expect it to become a family heirloom, but I have no reason to think I'll ever need to buy another cheese cutter again. I think it's a pretty good tool. I've never made slices that thin. However, I bought it for my wife as she has a habit of manipulating a piece of cheese and thought this would be the solution. However, she cannot hold cheese and cut it with a tool. I plan on making thin slices for them and storing them in a separate bag. I like it and will keep it. I recommend this tool, but if your arm strength is questionable, a guillotine cutter might be the way to go.

I *still* hate these reviews. I mean it's a cheese cutter - either it cuts cheese or it doesn't. So: does he cut the cheese? Is it convenient to use? Yes, can you adjust the thickness of the slices? This cheese slicer looked very nice out of the box. It's wide, pleasing to look at, and feels solid. Unfortunately I had two problems. I find wire adjustment quite difficult, especially as there is no easy way to ensure the two sides are set to the same width. It can be done, but it will take too long to get it right.
