Compact Diesel Heater Exhaust Extension

My installation required a slightly longer exhaust pipe than was included in my heater kit. Note that you will need to flare the pipe if you cut it down the middle to accommodate the exhaust/muffler. It would be nice if treatment stopped at about 50cm per meter or so, but everyone's needs are different. We hope the stainless steel tubing will outlast the ::eyeroll:: dispenser, but so far it has endured nearly trouble-free continuous service.

  • Automotive
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Didn't quite fit the tube.

I wasn't expecting much here. No heavy-duty pipes or the like. It is a typical wall metal and somewhat flexible. In my case I had to stretch a flexible line over the exhaust pipe. It was a tight fit and actually widened the joint at the bend. However, he did not break. The supplied clamps are unusable and a screw has snapped off. I should get a U clamp. Those are hose clamps. There is value in that. You will end up with a long piece of metal. I had no damage.

Pros
  • Exhaust and emissions
Cons
  • Big and bulky

We then cut the tubing to fit the 1" hole that will be drilled in the concrete wall. We used a small amount of high temperature silicone sealant to caulk the tubing at the point of the outer exit from the wall, making a good seal and exhaust protection We used a 4" x 4" vent cap with bug screen to cover the…
