I actually bought this as a replacement basket for my electric deep fryer. But it's too much for him. So I only use it for frying in bulk as I will be using a large pot on a gas range. Thanks to the handles and the large metal mesh basket, it is perfect for this. Great price too.

It didn't help me much. And in no case does it stand alone or with something inside, like in the picture. Maybe with fries? I get a normal deep fryer. 04/18/2017 Okay, I tried fries today because I still don't have my regular deep fryer. It works very well and is very inexpensive. But in itself it's still not worth it :) So I'll change it to 5 stars.

I cut my finger on this thing right after unpacking it. "Stainless steel" is very fragile and dangerous. It's very cheap and poorly designed. Doesn't stand up as well as the photo unless you maybe fill it with marshmallows. Clearly cleaning this thing would be a nightmare. The idea behind this is great, it folds and has handles but I will fold it up and put it back in the box to return. Complete with bloodstains and all.

I've used this as a salad bowl (fill with veg, pick up, stick head out the back door and twirl my hand to flush water out of the veg). I love that it folds flat unlike the big plastic items they sell. But the old-fashioned French strainer baskets I knew were made of more durable material.
