This is a good steamer but I bought this for the holidays as a tamale pot and it's nowhere near high enough for tamale. I've seen in other reviews where people said they cooked tamales in this pot, but you would have to make very short tamales (just a few bites) or put the tamales on the side and only be able to cook about 6 at a time . I was very disappointed in the pot as it was useless for what I bought it for and will now sit safely in the kitchen until gifted or thrown away.
