Stant 14289 Thermostat Degrees Fahrenheit Review

Easy to install. Works well. I did notice that it runs a few (about 4) degrees hotter than my Cummins OEM: Since the Cummins thermostat keeps going from 190 to 192, this Tstat seems to love 194. Otherwise it works fine - no problems with cooling. But next time I might go back to the OEM.

After running my Ram Cummins 01 for several months and starting it in cold weather, it does not keep the temperature constant at 190. Usually this can cause the engine only accelerate to 170 -180, even from fully clogged bars and a half-hour drive on the highway. I am looking for a replacement thermostat.

Stant has been making thermostats, radiator caps and gas caps for years. I even used Stant products once. The parking thermostat I have in my Dodge was installed 10 years ago and it's only now going bad. 10 years, what more could you want. which would be great. But the booster pumps are Carter and the injector pumps are Robert Bosch.

Looks like a duplicate of the original thermostat that I removed from my 2004.5 2500 Dodge Ram with 5.9 Cummins engine (I am the original owner). I placed them both in a pot of water on the stove and while they both opened at about the same correct temperature, my original didn't open as far as this new one. I should have changed my original thermostat long before it started sticking. If you take the time to change the coolant, also replace it as it has a built in rubber seal to keep the paper…

This is the exact same part as the original Cummins 190 degree thermostat on a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. When I compared the factory I took out to the stant 14289 the stamps were on the metal and everything else identical. The same markings, the same fonts on the markings, the same poetry. I've heard that the Cummins thermostat is special because it's designed not to open to prevent overheating, but comparing this part to the one I took off I can only assume that Stant is their Cummins supplier.
