does the job

I've recently started "recycling" old sweaters, untangling them and tying them back into something else. I hand wound my first center pull ball and it took several hours. I looked at ball winders, and the experience of hand winding convinced me to pay for a little machine that can do it faster and more accurately than I can. I have no fast yarn; I just hold the sweater in one hand and use the other hand to wrap the handle so that the buckling and unbuckling happens at the same time. I don't…

This Yarn Winder has helped me a lot to organize my yarn! I had a lot of skeins of yarn that I would spool up when I ran out of a skein or when I ripped up the project and wanted to save the yarn. The problem with hand winding without a winder is that I couldn't pull off center. So it was great to make neat balls that I could easily use! I like that it has a lid under the hinge part because that's where the thread can get tangled when winding if you're not careful. The lid prevents this. I…

Clean and tidy and high mileage!

YBW-B Stanwood Needle Punch I first bought it in the summer of 2013. It's summer 2016 and in that time this thing has spun yarn for miles! This works best with yarns that are not "smooth" (any yarn with silk or viscose has been problematic to wrap, no matter how heavy). I wrapped the cake with 880 yards of worsted yarn. . . like a cake!
