Block apparently used

Block apparently used, the wires were unwound with cable ties, disappeared in bags. They didn't want to replace and had to buy a replacement for an extra $5.

Pros
  • Don't waste time
Cons
  • Long time

I liked it so much that I bought another

. Gotta love USB peripherals. I have so many. That's great because you have two charging ports plus eight standard ports. I don't think I need to add other USB hubs. I'm not getting the low power warnings with this hub that I've been getting with products from previous vendors.

Pros
  • Glitter
Cons
  • Unfashionable

Great idea, poorly executed.

UPDATE: Not ONLY USB2 ports keep disconnecting, USB3 ports do too. It looks like it has to do with power management in the hub. Actually it is very disappointing! I would not recommend this device to anyone. A solid mechanical design and a really interesting solution, including an integrated USB3-USB2 bridge that allows you to connect 4 slow USB devices in addition to 2 faster ones. That's 2 stars. The remaining stars have been removed as the USB2 ports are constantly disabled. I see other…

Best Hub Connectivity

Great Hub. I'm a DJ and I'm using it to connect two Pioneer XDJ 1000 NI Kontrol F1 and NI Z2 mixers to my MacBook Pro. I've never had any problems, always reliable. I even bought a second one for another set. I'm actually going to buy a 7 port as I've added another controller to my setup. The charging port works great. I have charged iPhone, iPad and Samsung Galaxy S7. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

I like electronics

USB hubs fail here. This one seems to be doing its job well. I waited a bit before checking it out. I was pleased that it could charge my Kyocera Brigadeer phone via a charge-only port without choking. This phone has a fat battery that disables a marginal charger. However, note that not all ports support 3.0 to avoid disappointment.

Does the manufacturer make a direct USB 3.0 hub?

The hub block arrived in good condition and I put it to work straight away and replaced another block which gave me nothing but trouble. The sockets are solidly installed and of good quality, and the power supply is more than sufficient to power the few bus-powered drives I have connected to it [2 hard drives, optical drive, floppy drive and mouse]. The only downer is the fact that only three ports are USB 3. The other four are USB 2. Not really a big deal but data transfer is important to me…

Another great product from Star Tech, BUT.

I've tried several USB hubs since I started building my own desktops. Startech proves time and again that it is at the top of the ladder of quality and reliability. I get lost every once in a while, but I'm always so frustrated that I shop again for stellar tech. However, you must note two things. First, the rather large power button at the top (I'll call it the front one) is very easy to accidentally press if you even touch it with your hands. Second and more important is that the…

Didn't work best in hubs

It didn't work and I may have lost one of my USB3 ports on my tower after I connected a USB3 device. Since then, the device has been working with a dedicated USB3.

  • Absolute Legend
