Works well so far

Multicard Reader does what it's supposed to do, at least for SD cards and USB ports. It reads my UHS-II cards at 210 and writes them at 170, which is good. CF and MS slots cannot be tested. It installs easily into a 3.5 inch slot. The green status light and red activity light are fine, but they may conflict with your PC's color scheme. Cons: Note that it occupies one of the mobo's USB 3 slots. I understand that most mobile devices only have one, so if you plug it in, you can't plug in any of…

SD cards do not slide smoothly and are difficult to remove.

I'm looking at the 3.5" bay version, USB3 mobo connector (blue connector/cable). (December 29, 2019) Installation was fairly easy (although the StarTech 5.25-3.5 bay adapter was unfortunate as its broadhead screws don't work in my case; this review is for this product but just as a warning a 3.5/5.25 adapter included for those who buy it). Since I feel friction when inserting the SD card, the click works, but I press it to eject, but the low spring force of the card's internal mechanism cannot…

Oops, bad quality. Found a much better card reader.

It's hard to find an integrated SD card reader with UHS-II speeds on an internal USB 3.0 port. This StarTech reader looked cheap and had some questionable reviews, but I gave it a try. On my Dell Optiplex 790, I plugged it into an optional Inateck PCIe to USB 3.0 2-port card into the internal 20-pin USB connector and was able to use the external StarTech USB 3.0 port, but I had no indicator light and I was able to do not read SD, CF or memory cards. I took the thing apart and looked closely at…

Very poorly made - 3 slots failed within 2 years

I received this reader to read various types of memory cards that I use in my various cameras. I wanted to clean up my office a bit and not have USB media hubs plugged into the front of my workstation. BAD1) From day one, the front USB ports didn't work, although that wasn't a big deal as the workstation had front USB ports. built-in. '2) About a year later, one day, the XD card reader just shut down completely. It didn't matter either, since most XD cards come with an adapter that fits the…

CFC>on>IDE adapter = removable data medium for old PCs without USB! :)

No USB support on my old IBM PS/1 Consultant, 486-66MHz. My search for removable drives found this! ►NOTE. This rating reflects the StarTech 3.5-inch drive bay. Compact Flash Card - CFC>to>IDE Adapter - 35BAYCF2IDE. Pros: + Free shipping. + Simple plug and play installation. , no drivers are required. + CFC Activity Pass Through – This means that the controller card LED shows CFC activity. + Supplied with power supply splitter cable. to any 40-pin or 44-pin female IDE ribbon cable.+…

Okay, this is a pretty niche topic, but .

I just assembled a new desktop PC and wanted a memory card reader among other things. I have several digital cameras and it was important to be able to insert their memory cards into a reader to transfer photos to my desktop. I tried to migrate an old card reader from a previous build to a new computer but couldn't find any drivers for it. While Win 10 is really good at finding working drivers for addons, I think the reader in this case is just too old and doesn't seem to have the necessary…
