We didn't like the I/O cards the best

We bought 4 of these cards and nobody in our department likes them. I am surprised by the positive reviews. Our experience says otherwise. We bought them for use on Windows 2012 R2 servers. Allowing Windows to install the driver itself caused servers to crash or intermittently fail when USB devices were plugged in. This included both flash drives and WD external hard drives, none of which drew more power than could be obtained via PCI. After installing the drivers from the website, the cards…

Added to my old Dell 2950 for USB 3 access

It's safe to say no one has complained about the transfer speed. I have about 3-4 Plex users accessing drives 24 hours a day through this expansion card. I installed it with Win 10, whoever has problems with Linux chooses his way. Also, Linux doesn't automatically mount volumes, so read your friendly manual and learn a few commands. lsblik -fsudo mount /dev/sda1/ etc.

Possible driver issue in Windows 10

I'm investigating an error code 43 issue that may be caused by the Star Tech USB PCIe card driver not being fully compatible with the latest versions of Windows 10. Online reviews from other customers complain about outdated driver software, and Star Tech hasn't done anything to fix the issue. I went to the Star Tech website and downloaded the latest driver, but that didn't fix the problem.

Not so great. in I/O Port Maps

Bought for use on a computer running Windows 10. After installing it I wanted to try it due to some bad reviews. I used a 5 gigabyte file to transfer between two external hard drives. I tried it 4 times and it completely locked up the computer and had to turn it off with the power button each time. To make sure it was the card, I plugged two drives into the factory 3.0 ports and tried the file. again. Replanted three times with no problems. There is no doubt that the problem is with the newly…

This mainly works on a Dell R710 with Ubuntu Server 16.04

I needed a faster backup tool as the Dell R710 only has USB 2.0 ports. Adding this card doesn't give you any noticeable peak performance, but it does run at the top speed listed by my Costco Seagate USB 3.0 backup drive. The published maximum transfer rate is 180 MB/s. I got about 50MB/s with USB 2.0 ports. On a Dell R710 running Ubuntu Server 16.04 it plugs in and works pretty well. Turn off the device, install the card and turn on the device. A quick "lsusb" indicated the presence of a USB…

Works great with internals

The USB 3 connection on my motherboard was unstable so got this to see if things can be improved. Well it worked great and although it has 3 outlets I also connected a 3 port hub to it. The fact that it can be powered by connecting to an AC adapter makes it even better! It's just a shame that you actually need an internal USB 3 cable to connect to the internal connection. After cutting and soldering, I found that USB-3 cables are MUCH different internally than USB2 cables. Anyway, I now have an

Great, after troubleshooting

Bought to add USB 3.0 to an old computer upgraded to Windows 10. The map was easy to install and works great. Windows 10 automatically installed the recommended driver for it. . It worked great and the speed increase was amazing. However, after the computer went to sleep. I noticed when they woke him up. The map was showing as disabled due to a programming error. I was able to uninstall the software and restart my computer. It will reinstall automatically and work normally until you let it…
