Most functions don't work

I've been using this switch for almost 2 years and it suffers from many annoying problems. Issues: 1. The audio through the 3.5mm jacks is consistently high. Sound from the source still gets through, but the audio is loud enough to drown out most of what you might hear. For Windows 10 computers, you must physically disconnect/reconnect the USB cable to the computer for it to respond. It gets extremely annoying when you quickly have multiple switches.3. Random Freeze. KVM will randomly stop…

Died after 5 months

I liked this thing at first - it worked perfectly with my PCs, switching between them was fast and the picture quality was perfect. After about 5 months of use, one of the inputs stopped working properly. There is a little hissing noise at the bottom of the screen, the signal drops randomly every few minutes causing Windows to temporarily lose the monitor. I've tried swapping which HDMI cable is connected to which computer to make sure the problem isn't with one of my computers and the problem…

Pros
  • High tester ratings for support and durability
Cons
  • High price

My new work laptop does not have a VGA output for video. My previous KVM switch was a dual VGA switch. I share a monitor between my home computer and my work laptop. I don't like cramped workspaces, so I don't want a dual-monitor setup. This KVM switch did it. It would be nice if you could select cables that don't have mic/speaker jacks because I don't need them. The sleek black button for switching between sources is really nice and works great. My home computer is running Windows 10 and my…

Works well but the cables are short

Dual Port HDMI KVM Switch (SV211HDUA). Bought after returning IO Gear GCS62HU. The IO Gear had an issue with distinct green dots all over the screen. Startech is much more generic and sits in the background. IO Gear looks better and looks more impressive, although Startech works well. Startech has much shorter cables, they should be at least 12-18 inches longer. I have both computers on the left side of the desk, but you can buy them if you're lucky and just position them correctly. The…

2 computers, each controlled with 1 click. Boom.

Home desktop (Windows 7 Ultimate) or work laptop (Windows 8). with just one click. Good. :-) You have to wait the usual 4-5 seconds for plug/play to work, but then you switch. My only complaint is that I wish the speaker cable was a bit longer, it extends out the side, but barely (if you have a speaker plug in the front, it won't). When connected to a laptop, the primary monitor is the secondary monitor (the laptop monitor is the primary monitor). That was my main reason for kvm and it works…

Much better than IOGear KVM.

I've been an IOGear user for many years, but one day I upgraded my computer and the hotkeys stopped working. IOGear tells me that they cannot guarantee their KVM switches will work. Throw away IOGear and try Startech. Works perfectly. Even though it has a wired button to switch computers, I can still use the hotkey to switch computers. I am convinced of this product. There are two reasons I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5. First, the cables are very short. I had to move my server and…
