This thin cable is MUCH easier to install and manage. With an optical signal, shielding is absolutely unnecessary. The heavier coating on optical cables is GASKET [so you can't easily break the cable], not shield. So if you don't walk on the ground, THIN is what you need.

Connects easily to my computer and powered speakers. People who complain of a loose fit either have a defective cable or the connector on their device doesn't meet specifications. Both ends are secure but not too tight. Remember that the optical signal is strong enough to work with a cable within an inch of the connector. Right off the bat, all the isolation tricks you see on other products just right. The fiber is only affected by light and a thin opaque screen is sufficient. The only problem is that it still breaks with less force and wears out faster over time.
