I am afraid did not work for me, not necessarily the fault of the product my set-up somewhat complicated. Very good tech help, they advised me to return the converter. Would recommend thoroughly check unit adaptability BEFORE you buy. Overall not a negative experience rather a learning lesson. Return dealt with promptly by amazon. very satisfied overall. Like most all StarTech products I have used this HDMI to VGA converter does what it advertises at a price most all can afford.

I needed this to connect a second monitor to my laptop. I could only use one HDMI connection for the first monitor and then this connector for the second monitor. It worked great.

The adapter does exactly what it is supposed to: Convert an HDMI signal to VGA. In our particular use, connecting a laptop to both projectors and an older video screen.Unfortunately on the second use, someone tripped over a the VGA cable that connected to the adapter. Pretty good product. Works great with my laptop HDMI output. The VGA monitor plugged into this device is running a resolution of 1280 x 1024. with no extra power source.

I have a laptop that I want to be able to hook up to VGA only devices (like a projector). I don't use it regularly, but when I need it, it's there. I've tested it on a monitor and projector and it works well.

If I had gotten this, it would have been great. Instead, they sent me some connector that I have no idea what it is for. Unfortunatley, I left the contry for a trip, forgot to send it back and have been stuck with it. Star Tech works great for me when I get the correct thing. So, if you get what you order, you should be fine.

The converter works like a charm on our new Dell notebook and vintage VGA projector. It is well packaged, seems to be well built and works with no power except what the HDMI port supplies. Recommended.

I've been looking for one that will work with a MacBook Pro. This one does but there is one caveat. You will need a USB to MicroUSB cable to provide additional power. Fortunately this model has the Micro USB input just for this purpose. The Mac's HDMI port does not provide enough power to supply the adaptor.

Worked as advertised on my Dell laptop. Only hiccup was that I needed the audio to play along with the video that was part of the presentation I was projecting on screen. When you connect the converter to HDMI it automatically switches the playback device to the HDMI port. To fix this you need to reset the default playback device back to speakers. After that everything worked perfectly.
