strong strong in collision repair kits

Ideal tool for removing hard to reach areas such as corners or bends. Very strong and sturdy, withstands multiple heavy hits.

Strong angle chisel.

I used this to remove a quarter circle on garage door trim. It worked great. He struck at right angles with a hammer and quickly removed the wood.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Some imperfections

Easy and hard. for body repair tools

One of those tools that only works if you know how to use it. The guys at work have seamstresses who are over 10 years old and they show it but still show up on every job. It doesn't have as much action as a straight buster, but it comes in handy for some of the crazy joints you see these days.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • So far so good

Good design. Used to split spot welds by 65.

Nice design. Used to cut spot welds on Mustang 65. Slightly fades after about 30 pre-drilled welds. Easy to sharpen. If you pay attention to place the sharp edge at the weakest point of the drilled weld point, the service life will be extended. Will buy again when this one is at its best.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I will add later

Straight is even better! I use it often

Very convenient removal of spot welds and body panels in car restoration. Straight is even better! I use them a lot, especially in combination with a broaching torch ("drill" for spot welding). Still have their advantage after many abuses. Worth the price but if you only want to get one go ahead, you won't regret it.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • poorly thought out

A must-have tool for body work

Steck make fantastic products around the world and gouging machines are a must-have tool for anyone in the body or hot rod/restoration industry. Extremely durable and perfectly ground for strength and sharpness. Drill your spot welds as best you can, use this to separate the seams and punch through the remaining small section of the weld missed by the drill.

Pros
  • Best in the niche
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

EXTREMELY WELL MADE OF EXCELLENT HARDENED STEEL

I like the fact that the tool is very well made and strong enough to cut the steel spot welds; body work. When I received this tool I was amazed at how indestructible it is. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone who needs to do a seam ripper on vehicles or anywhere else you can find them.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Problems

Heat treated tool steel keeps tool sharp

I'm new to spot welding. I have a 1957 Chevy truck, very thick steel. After drilling the weld spots, this tool did a fantastic job cutting them from any metal that was still welded together. I had expected that the impact on the tool would cause severe hardening and the sharp edge would dull quickly. I believe you must abuse the tool to damage it. I buy both this and the direct version.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Non automatic
