Cannot handle heavy applications!

I had to drill some 3/8" holes in a 3/16" steel angle. Using cutting fluid I ran these through the first hole, then as others have noted I had an error in the second hole. A large piece of the bat broke off, rendering the bat unusable. This type of failure should not occur with a cobalt bit, especially when cutting fluid is used.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Get the job done, barely.

I needed this exact size drill bit because I cut a hole where the bolt broke off. So after I pre-drilled the hole where I could start using this drill, the FIRST time it got stuck and stopped the drill bending this drill SO EASY. The metal is soft to soft but luckily I used a few pieces of wood and a hammer to bend it straight (I think) and was able to finish the job. not recommended for the price.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Crashed before drilling a hole

I bought this 1/2" Steelex drill bit and a 3/8" Steelex drill bit at the same time to drill screw holes in hot rolled angle steel for small Screws to drill home project (only about 30 holes). I drilled a 3/16" pilot hole with a DeWalt "Point" drill bit and then drilled the hole with a 3/8" drill bit and it cut through very quickly. As soon as I started working with the 1/2" nozzle the tip broke off (about an inch). I'm done with my DeWalt bits and will never buy a Steelex bit again.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
