📚 Strathmore 8.5x11 Hardbound Sketch Art Journal, 192 Pages Review

Great sturdy sketchbook at a great price. My son openly insults his sketchbooks as they are scattered in his room, his car, his backpack with too many other things. They are durable, withstanding and protecting those precious sketches despite abuse.

The cover is a bit soft and the pages are lightly textured, but overall this is a good sketchbook. A little thin at 192 pages, but that's okay. I would not recommend this sketchbook for markers or other wet environments as it spreads quite a bit on the back. Ink pens, pencils, crayons, charcoal/graphite and pastels work great.

Used to be my favorite sketchbooks, a new one arrived today, no longer has the sleek black cover. looks more bluish/almost purple, textured and "funny". Still a good sketchbook and a really good price, but the cover has changed, the look has changed. I'm keeping this one to myself but will probably consider other options before buying again. I know they're officially dry stock, but I've used sketchbooks like this as journals for years, and I write with fountain pens, which are not particularly wet. In fact, I've seen myself use a few copies of this model over the past five years, but I think the quality of the paper has dropped a bit in this case. Of all the school supplies in my daughter's box, she grabbed *this one* and didn't put it down. She loves this sketchbook (and he used to carry it with him to take notes, draw and create - and create drawings *from* notes!). The pages are thick and smooth, the binding is strong.
