Works great on my Windows 10 laptop

Works great with Windows 10 native Maps app and with Google Earth using Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers. Native drivers are automatically installed with Windows 10, but VCP drivers must be downloaded from the u-blox website. Great price, quick fix, higher sensitivity than my previous GPS.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Boring packaging

Great nav! best gps accessory

I have a Raspberry Pi that I built to build a Stratux ADS-B receiver. The GPS signal was strong, typically showing an accuracy of 1.5 m plus or minus. It looks like it has received a strong signal and many satellites. It also integrated seamlessly with Foreflight and provided me with all the information I needed. I tested it in flight and it works great and I look forward to using it!

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Updates available

Still works with Windows 10 and Gmaps, Windows Maps etc.

This is a cumbersome device to use and there are no guidelines other than what you can find online. On some computers and existing navigation programs it will work out of the box, on others you may need to download a driver file and another file that represents this information and translates as a virtual COM port for the programs. You can also use the serial output of the module with your own programs, the format is described on the Internet.

Pros
  • Outstanding Design
Cons
  • Clarity

Good magnet, good Linux support, good long cable.

I bought this to use in a data collection project I am building for my Raspberry Pi Zero based machine. Excellent support for Debian Linux. Very easy access to third party and custom application data. Works great with Kismet. I installed it on the roof of my car and had no trouble moving it. The built-in USB cable is a nice length and is very easy to route through the double insulation and the door panel to allow for hidden wiring.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Some flaws

Works out of the box with RPI (or Odroid) for ads-b

I connected them to my Odroid-C2, installed gpsd, added /dev/ttyACM0 as a device in gpsd.conf and restarted this service and its task . Same setup procedure with my RPI 4. Using them I can use ads-b's MLAT setup (exact length/width/height required). They have relatively low power consumption (I've seen less than 150mA), but they don't add up too much. many SDR dongles along with these GPS devices in 4 USB ports, especially if you use BIAS TEE to control a remote LNA, otherwise you will get…

Trouble syncing laptop clock in the field

This device met my need to sync my laptop clock while working in the field. I need very precise timing for radio communication and software interaction, and this device is just what I need. The software that came with it needed some tweaking and I ended up downloading a test copy of the GPS software package which is easier to set up and works great. For radio amateurs who need accurate timing for digital communications, this device helps maintain timing for these modes.

Works well but a bit unreliable

I have bought 2 of these units in 2 years. I use them for my Stratux GPS navigator while flying various airplanes. The GPS is excellent. I often get <10m location accuracy and it quickly locks onto the GPS position. However, they both had problems at the end of the cable next to the plastic casing of the GPS, resulting in the cable no longer providing a signal (the serial port was not communicating). I ended up having to open up the devices and randomly bend the cable (near the case at the…

Sensitive and fast to get a lock

I was looking for a GPS receiver that would work on my Raspberry Pi network time server and I found it! My other GPS was key and it worked fine but it took a few minutes to get at least 3 satellites required by the software on the Raspberry Pi. Also, it didn't stay blocked and required me to fiddle with it. This GPS detects and fixes multiple satellites within a few seconds after connecting and starting the GPS server and stays connected to these satellites. Using the Windows U-Center software,
