Fake shock absorber, strut and suspension parts

The product I received was not a StrongArm hydraulic but a cheap fake. I give the product 2 stars because it is attached to my 4Runner and raised the sunroof. However, these are significantly smaller cylinders than genuine parts or a genuine StrongArm product. It's basically a bait and switch, but I didn't have time to deal with returns and just needed a quick fix. That works first.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Almost everything ok

Replaced tired OEM racks on my 2001 4Runner and have been very happy with the performance. That being said, it doesn't increase even on colder days, but that's just physics working for you (temperature affects pressure and all). At a price that compares to what Toyota wants to sell its parts for, I can call it a deal and walk away happy.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Damaged

Insufficient support for my '98 4runner

'98 4runner limited. The Strong-Arm 4286 sunroof's C-pillars feel well constructed and fit great. Unfortunately, they don't raise the tailgate all the way without manual assistance. Once you fully raise the sunroof, hold it. I've replaced it with the 6815, which fully and automatically raises the tailgate after you unlock the latch and start opening the movement. For installation, watch Timmy the Toolman and Shawn's videos on YouTube.

I'm glad I took them!

I just replaced two pannier racks with my wife's '98 4Runner and I can't believe the difference! Although these racks appear to be smaller in diameter than the factory OEM racks, they clearly work just fine! The only thing I would mention with a word of caution is that if you replace a bunch of them, this tailgate is heavier than stink. ! This means you have to support all of this while you put the new rack in place! Be smarter than me and get help! The next day I was in bed with a sore backโ€ฆ

Works great, works like new but.

The only complaint about this mount is that it doesn't come with mounting hardware. I consider this type of product as a shock absorber. It should come with mounting pins, washers, grommet, C-clamps, etc. Maybe I'm asking too much. Installation note for those unfamiliar with it; You'll need an assistant to hold the back door or a stick to prop it up. Once you remove the support bar from one side, the other doesn't have enough buoyancy to hold the tailgate. I'm tall and kept the back door on myโ€ฆ

Good alternative to EOM racks

Great replacement for my 1996 4Runner. Jim's previous review is correct, these are not stock liftgate pillars and they don't work quite as well, but in my opinion they are a reasonable aftermarket replacement at a reasonable price. Pros: - Price. Look, my 4Runner is already 18 years old. It's hard to justify spending $400 on EOM stands versus $35 on a pair of Strongarms. Ease of installation. Make sure the rear window is up. Remove a lock washer, slide bolt, and flat washer (top and bottom ofโ€ฆ
