What I needed was a power tool and a hand tool

Very happy with this ax sheath. I bought this for my carpenter's ax because it's pretty sharp and I wanted to keep it covered for safety. The shell fits well and looks good too. I painted it a darker color with some old shoe paint I had because I knew I was going to stain it. But you can also just keep the natural look. The sheath has room in the back for looping if you wish to carry your ax Daniel Boone style. I highly recommend this product.

Exactly what I needed.

I bought a Cold Steel Norse Hawk and wanted the scabbard to have a traditional look. The case, which Cold Steel makes, is made of nylon and Velcro. So I opted for these instead. It's well made and the skin is thick enough that I don't have to worry about driving a sharp ax into it. The ax fits inside and snaps open with one of two buttons. I was a bit concerned about the fit at first, but after a little patience I figured out how to do it. Now the skin has stretched a little after a very short…

Good coverage, too short straps!

UPDATE: I soaked the scabbard in warm water for a few minutes, slipped it onto the ax blade and stretched the strap to fit. If it fits perfectly now, I've added mink oil to it after drying to put the skin back in order. Increase my rating to four stars. I just received a leather sheath for my ranger axe. I noticed that half the reviews say it fits the Trail Boss Ax and half the reviews say it doesn't. I took a risk and hoped for the best. The blade itself fits perfectly into the scabbard, but…

Works for melee boss.

I see a lot of people wanting to use this for the melee boss. Out of the box, the mask sits perfectly on the tip of the axe, but the strap is too short to attach the clasp. I took some Obenauf's Beeswax Leather Preservative Heavy Duty and applied it to the leather. Then I sheathed the ax and soaked it in a bucket of warm water for about half an hour. Then I took the strap and was able to tighten and snap it into place. I put it back in the water for another half hour. I removed it and let it…

Not suitable for a standard boy's ax without pre-soaking.

I ordered three of these cases to use with two boys axes and a camp axe. The trunk bag is roomy and fits all three heads (2.25-2.5 pounds, Michigan model) but the straps were too short to attach without getting wet and stretched. I managed to stretch and tighten the leather strap enough to use both latches on the boys' ax handles, but I could only reach one of the latches with the camp axe. Not sure if I can use both clips on the axles after drying, time will tell. At the same time the latches…

Nice Ace Case at a good price. But needs some work

I wanted a simple and relatively inexpensive leather case for my 1.25lbs Husky ax from Home Depot. good coverage. First, it's a simple genuine leather case and a bit stiff. I soaked it in warm water for a few minutes. Then I wrap the ax in plastic wrap, put it in the lid and close it. After a few days it dried out and stretched to fit snugly on the head. Then I used brown shoe polish to give the case a subtle color. I just had a light auburn so it didn't get as dark as I would have liked, but…
