Description of Sumnacon Large Door Viewer 220-Degree with Heavy-Duty Rotating Privacy Cover, Solid Brass Security Peephole for 1.65" to 2.16" Doors - Ideal for Home, Office, and Hotel - Black

The required hole in your door is 1.1" / 28 mm, it is quite large. But the payoff is that it is very good at gathering and transmitting light. It is very clear through the glass optics (unlike cheap peepholes with plastic lenses). The lens is 0.675" (17mm) in diameter. Because the lenses are large, the image shows up nice and clear. This suitable for 1.65" to 2.16" ( 42mm - 55mm) thickness doors.Insert the viewer into the hole then screw the two sides together and tighten by hand. The viewing tube is somewhat larger than many other standard peephole viewer, offering a better field of view. You can apply a thin coat of silicon sealant to the inside and outside flanges before installing the unit, to help keep moisture out. On this viewer, the plate rotates freely and has a quality feel to it, this privacy cover is great for stopping those with reverse peepholes from spying on you. Maybe you initially was going to buy the cheaper, smaller version but you will be glad to spend the extra for this one. Its material is solid brass, high quality door viewer and has a nice 220-degree visual angle. After installed it, you can view a person who standing outside from the top of the head to the feet, and you can easily view the entire surrounding area.It offers the highest quality security for you and your family. Perfect peephole for home, office, hotel and front door where you need to see, monitor, spy and peeking who is outside your door when the doorbell rings before opening, providing you extra privacy and safety. A must complement for any intercom system, security door monitor, door accessories.

Well-made peephole

The brushed nickel front door hardware has been renewed and we wanted to replace the peephole with one that has a rotating cover for more privacy. When we received it we were impressed with how durable it is and how well it works. It didn't fit the 1" hole we had in the door so I had to widen the hole a bit but I'm happy with the results. Definitely recommend this product.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • There are downsides

Difficult to rework a metal door

This peep hole requires you to drill a larger hole in the door than a standard hole. But we added this to a steel door that already had a standard size peephole. If you know how a hole saw works, you will understand the problem. So my problem solver husband drilled tiny holes around the template and cut them out with wire cutters. However! it looks great and we love it.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

It distorts the view and is difficult to assemble

Looks nice but the lenses fall out when you unscrew the external viewfinder, which is unintuitive and there are no instructions. ok so you need to figure out that it only has to unscrew from one end. But how to TURN HERE WHEN BOTH SIDES ARE SMOOTH AND STRONG! No notches to tighten like regular viewfinders. crap product. At least the seller is good.

Pros
  • nice touch
Cons
  • flimsy

Ordered no black/no color

We bought this because we wanted it to be black (like the online photo here) to match our new door hardware. When the product arrived the outer plastic packaging was black, the box inside had black writing on it, but the product was actually silver/brushed nickel (item to the left of the two photos). We have requested a replacement item which arrived in a plastic bag with the same label indicating it was black with no label on the box but this time it is brass colored (the item on the right in…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Why lie in detail about this product?

I find it repugnant when the details of an item are outright lies. The lens isn't glass, despite what's been said over and over again. It's just cheap plastic. The worst thing is that the plastic is scratched. Fortunately, the scratch in the middle only slightly obscures the view. I'm sure a lot of them are scratched as the cap scratches the lenses when the peephole is screwed all the way in, that's what happened. Device that must be unscrewed to repair it. Luckily this is a quick and easy…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Nothing here
