Useless when precision is required

Not very accurate, poor overload protection, fuzzy menu functions. The lower frequency around 100MHz is bad. Applications for 3000 MHz reception are not even remotely possible. it is too expensive

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Boring packaging

The device is OK, but not worth the money I paid

The device is accurate enough, but not within acceptable limits. Plus, the charging cable is less than a foot long and very cheap. I bought 2 packs of 6ft cables and a good quality cable from Revain for only $6.99.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Weight

works best in CB and radio sets

can be a bit iffy with UHF. When transmitting on 455 it showed 800, 600 or 900. Turned it off and back on and it showed 455. Very accurate on VHF. When I send to 146500 it shows either 146500 or 146501. sound in place. The battery life is very good.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Affordable frequency counter that reads PL tones

The portable frequency counter worked very well. It read numerous radio frequencies within 1000MHz. Sometimes readings that are close together are needed and then adjusted more precisely. It also reads undertones. I haven't measured the distance this device can read as that's why I didn't buy it.

Pros
  • nice touch
Cons
  • upgradeable

Found frequency of working radios, oops.heh

Now I can use my radio for work. That way I know it's clean, loaded, and working properly. Used the finder to get the frequency and ctoss numbers. They said that this is a hidden channel and cannot be shared. Now handy for stealing frequencies from baddies at local airsoft games. All you have to do is create a list of channels or figure out how to tune in to the radio instantly.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • When in doubt

It works well when it's close enough

Sometimes you need to be really close to the device you want to scan. By close I mean almost touch, but if you're just trying to determine what frequency something is tuned to (that doesn't provide information natively and isn't digital) then that usually works pretty well for us. We use it from time to time during some of our tests and it has come in handy a few times since we added it to our collection of tools and gadgets. Of course, this will not give you any results (usable results) if the

unnecessarily inaccurate. declined.

Returned. Terribly inaccurate and very poor sensitivity indeed. Good for anything I can think of and I'm a hobbyist (with an additional ham radio license) fiddling with radio controls and ham radios etc. I love gadgets, even if they have limited uses, but if it's not safe then it's useless. Considering it almost has to touch the source and still reporting the wrong frequency, every time is different, that's a waste of time. Ditch the cheap stuff and use real professional testing and…
