BICYCLES DON'T MOVE! in bike racks

Easy to install, bolts to the bumper of the motorhome. The wheels ride well. Our first ride was 300 miles and the bikes weren't moving. Recommend mounting struts on the bumper, this takes the weight and torque of the strut and transfers it to the RV frame instead of the bumper.

Rock. for accessories

Attaches to the bumper of your road trailer. 2 bikes so far 3500 bumpy miles and still solid. <edit> Over 7500 miles and an invoice. It is highly recommended to drill a small drainage hole at the bottom of the pickup tubes to drain the water. Drill a hole and then paint the pipe with rust resistant paint.

Check tire clearance

Received the rack today and after a trick finally installed it. My spare tire is low on the bumper, so initially I didn't have enough room for the brackets that attach to the bumper. Luckily I was able to raise the hoop a few inches by using different eyebolt holes to attach it to the hoop. That gave me enough space. Seems solid. Will come back once I actually use it.

will not fit my 235/85/16 caravan tires. Bikes came loose on first ride

I had to move it to the opposite side of the spare wheel mount. It works but not as intended. On our first ride the bikes came loose. One of the mounts just slipped off the handlebars and the bike fell off, pulling my new mountain bike off in the process. On a bike, the pedal was lapped and my bike's tire rolled off because it had been dragged down the street. I just wish it wasn't too late to get it back. A clear waste of money.

Good. Strong bindings also work and adjust well

Like, simple, strong, no wobble or bounce. Rack installation is easy and quick. The placement of the bike and the location of the mounting straps will take time to determine a safe location. It took me 1/3 of the time to hang the bikes after the first ride. Note how close the bikes are to the ground before strapping them in. The manufacturer seems to recommend 12 or 15 inches from the pavement. My second purchase of a Swagman branded bike rack, both products have quality designs.

RW approved? No! in bike racks

We bought this for a bike rack in the back of the Winnebago last year. All studies have shown this to work and have been approved by RV. We used it for the first time last month with a 24" kid's mountain bike and an adult bike (mountain bike tires didn't fit so we had to use a different adult bike). It was difficult to set up. The mainstay is the bumper. We stood side by side so it was our test. The bikes bounced despite the harness and the bumper became a problem. Obviously, many owners have…

Wide range of bike racks for campervan owners

So far I'm very impressed with this bike rack. Note that we haven't loaded any bikes on it yet, so my review will focus on the construction and ease of assembly. I will update the information after we load the bike for our next trip. I needed a bike rack that would be stable and not bounce when attached to the bumper at the back of our RV. I've seen some mount via a standard hitch type adapter, but in practice they tend to rock back and forth in the receiver. They also hop a lot when traveling.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Good bike rack but a bit narrow

When I first installed the rack I was disappointed because it was too narrow to touch the tires and forced the handlebars to tilt inwards to get on to hit the narrow connecting rod. (see my 4th photo) But I found a review where someone had the same problem and moved the spare tire a bit higher to give more room. I repeated the installation and mounted the spare tire first as shown in the 3rd photo. The top hole of the tire is now a few inches higher than the top bolt. That extra height gave…
