I'm by no means an expert on microscopes, but I'm an expert on what I do, which is looking at alluvial gold and separating gold from what's not gold , this microscope does its job well. I'm also glad I have the option to add a digital camera, which I haven't gotten to yet. The adapter for my Sony Alpha 7 R IV costs more than a microscope. I wasn't sure what magnification I would need, so I opted for a higher magnification than what I got with a previously borrowed student dissecting microscope.
