Has 5 lighting modes, but you do NOT have to switch between them to get the main function: a bright, even flashlight. Just press the "On" button all the way down. Once, and IF you really want to use one of those stupid and outrageously useless settings, just lightly press the switch again while the light is on.

I bought this because it came with a lot of batteries. It has brightness but my husband didn't use it for walks because it's really too short for his hand. I thought I'd replace the one with dead batteries with another that was the same but had more batteries, but it was at least a few inches shorter than what it was used to and way too short.
