Great price, very easy install on a 2001 Suburban

Installed my Primus controller on my 2001 Suburban LT in about ten minutes and it worked great. Search the internet for the right prescription site. Mine was second from the left on the top row, in the fairing just above and to the left of the brake pedal.

No trimming of factory strapping required.

Make sure you are using a compatible brake controller. The older Tekonsha Voyager I used didn't have a detachable plug. However, it was not difficult to plug this connector into the existing pigtail from the brake controller from the controller side. It is then simply plugged into the existing GM wiring harness. No cutting of the factory wiring harness is required.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Something else

Plug n Play on a 1999 Silverado 1500

Plug n Play on a 1999 Silverado 1500 work truck. Not related to this wiring harness is the fact that on this model of truck you will likely need to get under the hood into a large black electrical box and make a simple wire connection to allow ANY brake controls to be used. You can find instructions on the Tekonsha website and it's not difficult, but you will need a few ring connectors and some zip ties to keep it looking good.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Not bad

the product seems to be very well made. Anyway, me.

product appears to be very well made. However, I can't check it in detail because it doesn't fit my truck. Note that some Chevy K3500s have a different layout even if included in the years listed for this product. In my case I have a 2000 K3500 Dually, 4x4 and not a plug and play console for this connector type. I don't think I blame the manufacturer as I think Chevy just makes it hard to know all of their configurations.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • not reliable

Controller location

Never understood why everyone wants that brake controller in the drivers footwell. If it's set up that way, then this suspension is perfect. I prefer to have it in a more accessible location so I can use the manual controls when needed. I guarantee you, when the trailer starts to slam, I won't have time to dig through the footwell to find the latch lever. I had to extend all 4 wires to accommodate my custom installation needs.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Not sure

Works well: External accessory

For the price, this eliminates most of the hassle of installing a Tekonsha brake control unit. I used the "Tekonsha 3025-P Brake Control Wiring Adapter for 99-02 GM" to install a Tekonsha 90160 Primus IQ Controller in my 2000 1500 Silverado. It took a few calls to tech support, but everything ended up working as advertised! BTW, ALL of my installation issues involved the vehicle I installed the controller on, not the adapter or the controller! Tekonsha's technical support is ALSO GREAT!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
