    Bought to work on a Ducati M900. The recessed design of the oil filter on a motorcycle required an alternative to the traditional oil filter wrench and I am pleased to report that this tool is perfect for that. Real estate on the filter which was a big plus for me as I had nothing to work with.     Suitable for removing the filter, may damage the new filter when installed.

    Basically these pliers have sharp little teeth to grip the oil filter, these teeth will surely penetrate the oil filter if you push hard. My old oil filter was screwed on very tightly so I had to press hard to pinch it and these pliers bent the crap out of the metal oil filter. When installing the new one I hand tightened it and then about 1/4 turn with these pliers and it barely scratched the outside of the oil filter but didn't mar it like the old one.     Bought an old BMW from the 70's and decided to change the oil as a first step. I'm not sure what the previous owner did to install the oil filter, but damn did it ever get stuck. The filter was completely plain with no oil filter slot and there was no gap on either side to allow for the use of a strap wrench so it was pretty much my only option. Let me tell you it's a beast.     "To 5½ inches? " From WHAT to 5½ inches?

    I bought a 16" wrench thinking it would fit all my family's cars as it is advertised for filters "up to 5½". Very deceptive. stops. On the SMALL stop, I measure a 3 3/8 inch gap between the opposing teeth when fully closed. At this size it won't be able to grab a stubborn 3.5" filter if that size is available. Forget using it on a 3 inch filter. It will fit my truck's filter, but NOT one of our cars, which have filters that are only 3 inches in diameter. Check your filter size. If it's less…
