Temperature Control Electric Gooseneck Capacitive Review

Problem 1 - I really liked the system but it stopped working after a few weeks. Problem 2 - I couldn't return the item as Revain only accepts returns within 30 days. This was NOT done according to Revain's information. I've been tracking the Kitchen Living store, it might be in Canada. They clearly have a remarkable 90 day return policy but didn't have a kettle to send me. After several phone calls to Revain they gave me part of the refund. However, the item says "Sold Out".

Bought a few weeks ago to replace another teapot. It looks fine, but soon stopped regulating temperature and repeatedly overheated. The meter read 203F and then stopped, but the kettle kept heating up. The first time I landed on a geyser and kept hovering over it until a replacement came. When the replacement arrived it had definitely been used before (poorly packaged back) and the bottom of the kettle rattled a bit. I didn't want to test it with a loose piece. If I were to make this product I would make the steel a little thicker and the lid a little stronger - my phenolic handle twists a bit and I don't want to tighten the nut anymore afraid to crack them. I love this kettle and it works well for the purpose I bought it for (making espresso with a hand held machine) but it has one major heating and temperature issue. It heats up quickly, but once it reaches the temp I've specified, it always jumps 4-8 degrees above that temp, after which it cools down until it drops 2-4 degrees below temp, and then jumps back up 2-6 in degrees. Cons: First, the temperature setting function doesn't work very well. For example I like to brew some of my £200 teas. If you set the kettle to 200f it will beep, but you can tell by the bubbling sound that it's still heating up. So you can take the kettle out of the unit and when you put it back in, it often shows 207f or 208f instead of *not* 200f. and finally beeps. I've only had the kettle a month so can't comment on its longevity but I can say I like everything about the kettle so far with one small exception. The kettle heats up very quickly. I never have to wait more than 2 minutes to fill a kettle 3/4 full at 195 degrees. And I like touch controls (like a smartphone). There are no "buttons" to worry about water ingress.
