Best Hit for the Dollar!

This thing is powerful. Other reviews mention issues with the manual and that's mostly true, but I got it enough to use the product properly. I was able to control my homebrew's fermentation to +/- 0.1F of setpoint. It's definitely going to take a long time to figure out how to hook up this thing and how to program it if you're not techy, but definitely not rocket science. I was able to plug it in and have it up and running within a couple of hours. Runs consistently and is totally worth the…

Autolearn was perfect for my workload.

I've been experimenting with manual settings on this thing, thinking "auto-learn" was a gimmick. I could never get the manual settings right, so I finally broke down and started auto-learning. Now everything is perfect. Unless you're familiar with PID and don't know how to tune these things, let it auto-learn if you're having out-of-range or out-of-convergence issues. Note where to find the manual and you will need to enter the passwords to set it up that are listed in the manual. Googling the…

A great product needs a better guide/translation.

I have made several panels using these PID controllers and have had great success over 5 months of continuous use, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I like these controllers for their ease of use and installation. The price was great too. I have used another similar product that cost over $325 and lasted about 3 years. I can buy 10 for the same price and if I get a year or two of that I'm still ahead of the game. The clips that hold them in place are also a great feature to make hooking them up…

Wrong item delivered twice, correct item delivered once but defective

I can't win with these little TA-4 controllers. The first had some pretty serious accuracy issues using a type K thermocouple. It wasn't linear so it couldn't be calibrated (10F too high in an ice bath, 11F too low at room temperature, 15F too high with boiling water ). The second block read the exact same TC perfectly, but it was the mechanical relay version, not the SSR version (although I ordered the TA4-SNR). The 3rd order was the same as the 2nd (TA4-RNR instead of TA4-SNR). The problem is

Excellent YouTube vs. Paper Manual

Very accurate temperature control, never used autotune for PID control, no need to compensate control temperature. Just looked at the photos posted, sorry for the schematic, shows detailed wiring info on the controller for 2,3,4 wire RTDs, also the TA4 plastic mounting brackets aren't the best, they work on their own but not for the multiple use. Ideal cutout size for TA4, after installing the retaining brackets, apply some sealant to stay safe, replace TA4?, Cut out the sealant with a razor…

Working but very weird hard to understand

Well first of all as others have said the reference sheet that came with this product is so short it's almost illegible. This is not an instruction manual at all - it simply gives the characteristics of the device. A big misunderstanding I had was that SSR in the product name (TA4-SSR) stands for Solid State Relay. nope In a confusing way, this means that output 1 is "S" (which stands for SSR, like a solid state relay), alarm 2 is "S" (like output 1), but alarm 1 is "R" (relay). ). So "C", "C"…
