I've been experimenting with manual settings on this thing, thinking "auto-learn" was a gimmick. I could never get the manual settings right, so I finally broke down and started auto-learning. Now everything is perfect. Unless you're familiar with PID and don't know how to tune these things, let it auto-learn if you're having out-of-range or out-of-convergence issues. I have made several panels using these PID controllers and have had great success over 5 months of continuous use, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I like these controllers for their ease of use and installation. The price was great too. I have used another similar product that cost over $325 and lasted about 3 years. I can't win with these little TA-4 controllers. The first had some pretty serious accuracy issues using a type K thermocouple. It wasn't linear so it couldn't be calibrated (10F too high in an ice bath, 11F too low at room temperature, 15F too high with boiling water ). The second block read the exact same TC perfectly, but it was the mechanical relay version, not the SSR version (although I ordered the TA4-SNR).
