Monitor keeps turning off

Initially I was working with a VGA/HDMI desktop and a VGA/Displayport (DP) laptop. The desktop used the motherboard's integrated graphics, and a DP to HDMI converter was used to power the KVM's HDMI input. My wife uses a laptop for her work and a desktop for personal use. Monitor 1 kept falling out. The duration of the monitor shutdown was so random and unpredictable. While playing, I had to press ESC to pause and wait for the monitor to come to life. Next day return on KVM switches

Even the most basic functions (mouse/keyboard) didn't work as promised. It's easy with the Microsoft Natural keyboard and Logitech mouse. On one computer it was not possible to get the monitors to work at all, on another barely. Troubleshooting is difficult as the manual is SUPER bare and even the information on the website/YouTube channel is minimal for both setup and troubleshooting.
