I have one with a thermometer and am glad I have this version as the readings are temperature dependent and I like having everything in one place on a busy brew day. The tube is also of high quality and uses a lot less liquid than other companies' products, so you don't waste too much liquid when taking a reading. Brewers are finicky about equipment as delicate as their hydrometers and I've had particularly bad luck with glass and even plastic jars. Complementing this kit is a more powerful hydrometer (albeit fragile) and good borosilicate bumper glass. Also, the test can only weighs 4 ounces while the others weigh 6-8 ounces, so I lose less wort or beer through gravity reading, and if I clumsily tip the can, the bumper saves the day. That's Right! I use a digital refractometer during my brew day. Once I get the wort into the fermenter I use this hydrometer to keep the OG and FG constant using the same gauge. Not sure if this will affect anything over time but the paraffin has cracked and come loose and is stuck in the sealed vial. It's hard to tell if this tool was in a cold store, which is why it was cold, or was it dropped?
