Works great for the money, I detail my own cars and some neighbors cars and find this tool very helpful especially when it comes to using compounds and waxes. Since then, the paint layer on new cars has become thinner and thinner. Very happy with the device and has already paid for itself

I like this one for what it's supposed to measure. It's hard to know how accurate it is without having a higher-level reference tool to compare measurements. We have a car with composite panels and it clearly won't work for that, while it works great for other cars that we detail and pay attention to paint thickness.

Calibration plaques are not included so you will need to purchase your own to ensure dry film readings are correct. I haven't found a way to force smaller shims within tolerance, which means the sensor isn't very accurate at the lower dry film thickness, which is what I need for my job. There doesn't seem to be a way to manually calibrate the device to make adjustments for shim tolerance. If that were the case, this machine would get 5 stars, not only because it needs to be able to calibrate…
