Completely inaccurate. At best, it displays the number of revolutions per minute in increments of just 120 revolutions per minute. More often jumps in the hundreds or revolutions per minute range. I bought this based on the advertised accuracy of +/- 10rpm. I would give zero stars if that was an option. I try 2 turns, 3 turns, 4 turns, 5 turns, 6 turns, 7 turns. Nothing has changed. I try all the cylinder fire settings. Nothing has changed. just multiple inaccuracies.

Nice unit with battery included. I have not been able to get a RPM reading that is close to the actual engine RPM. The display shows 4 digits ending with zero. That would be fine, but the other three digits have nothing to do with actual engine speed. At idle it reads 3100 and at about 1/4 throttle it reads 5810. The maximum speed of the motor is 3600 MAX. I've checked the RPMs with an analog tachometer and the Timorn isn't even close. I will return it by buying a more expensive device.

I use this on a Honda CB100 to diagnose misfires at high speeds; This might not be the best application as the RPM feature is slow to respond to gas bursts. Since it reads the pulses from the spark plugs, the meter reading can be inaccurate in the event of an electrical problem, although this can also be useful information. I installed this hour meter on a Briggs & Stratton powered DR chopper. Although the unit has electric start, there is no 12V switching power supply for the 12V meter so I needed my own power supply and I wanted one where I can change the battery. Installation was easy, with 8-32 screws threading through grommets on the gauge to a factory bracket attached to the chopper body. This is a surprisingly simple device and I enjoyed using it. The default setting is 1 spark per revolution, which is suitable for most lawnmowers, EVEN THOUGH they are 4-stroke. .Because they have a magnet (which creates a spark) on the flywheel, both 2-stroke and 4-stroke small engines produce a spark once per revolution. Ordered 2 pieces for 2 new snow throwers. I think/understand that other reviewers have only ordered it as an hour meter and it is quite suitable for that. I also needed it as a diagnostic device (speedometer), but that part of this device doesn't work accurately at all.
